Welcome!

My name is James S. Hodges. Here you'll discover the thoughts and analysis on a 'hodgepodge' of subjects as I attempt to journey over the 'horizon' that separates the known from the unknown. This blog is meant to shed light on topics from God's Word in a relevant way. Hopefully, this blog will change at least one person's life for the glory of God.

I will also give my opinions on current political issues and news headlines that interest me.

And you can also order a copy of my book War of the Horizon by clicking on the cover image below. May God bless you and enjoy!

A Biblical way of dealing with Depression

Here is a brief outline to help you cope with depression (the Biblical way). Before I share it with you, It's important that you have a relationship with God. This is only through Jesus Christ since He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). This outline is for Christians who have the Holy Spirit to help them cope with this issue. Christians still are not exempt from these issues while upon the earth. As I always say, we're not SINLESS but we're supposed to 'SIN....LESS.' Open your Bible to Psalm 77:

Psalm 77 (dealing with depression and to be used with an open Bible).

1. Cry out to God. He's not surprised how we feel and wants us to be honest. (verses 1-3)

2. Recall past blessings that God has done for you. You know you have gotten this far by His grace and He didn't lead you this far to forsake you. (verses 4-6)

3. Ask God some hard questions. (verses 7-9)

4. Choose to redirect your thoughts by His grace. (verses 10-12)

5. Magnify God to diminish your problems. His presence is manifested when we praise Him no matter how we feel. (verses 13-18) And on an interesting note, I know someone personally who overcame a spell of anxiety by having the wind blow in their face. I say this because these verses mention about God's actions in nature.

6. Trust God to be your deliverer and Him alone regardless of how unscientific or unreasonable it may sound. (verses 19-20)
