THE BIBLE & EVP

This is something I want to share involving one aspect of paranormal investigation, known as EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), and how it relates to the Bible. First, for those who may not know, what is Electronic Voice Phenomenon? This is when paranormal investigators use a digital recorder in a certain area hoping to catch voices or sounds from an unseen entity or ghost that the human ear could not hear. It is a unique experience when you hear an EVP while reviewing the recording after an investigation. On a side note, I actually do a Christian approach to the paranormal with a ministry I founded called S.P.I.R.I.T.S. (Society of Paranormal Investigative Research Involving The Scriptures). This is based on 1 John 4:1 with the intent to “try the spirits whether they be of God.” Through this I attempt to reach people with Biblical answers to the paranormal hoping to prevent them from seeking the occult and divination which I was involved in before coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. One of the Biblical answers I gleaned involving EVP is found in Genesis 4:10 after Cain murdered his brother Abel. God said to Cain, “What has thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Did you see that? God heard the the voice of Abel's blood crying unto Him. I guess this can explain how EVPs can often be heard in places where murder or other such tragedies involving the brutal loss of human life where blood was shed. This can be one of the answers of how an actual human voice (and yes, I know sometimes demons can imitate them but this study may show that's not always the case) can be heard from their blood or DNA that still lingers in a place crying out for justice while their soul can be in either Heaven or Hell. This also speaks of the importance of blood, especially when we consider what Leviticus 17:11 says about it, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.” As always, much more can be said about blood but I want to bring to your attention about another factor involving EVP. It has been reported among some scientists a while back how rocks can absorb sound and any sound it may have absorbed can still be stored up and can possibly be heard if somehow retrieved. To add more strangeness to this theory, I heard they were also attempting to analyze rocks around Gettysburg in hopes of retrieving the sounds of Abraham Lincoln giving the Gettysburg Address. I'm not sure how all that panned out but it's interesting to say the least. But if rocks can indeed replay sounds and voices of the past, can a digital recorder pick it up resulting in an EVP? According to the Bible, it just might be a possibility. I share this last verse with an open mind for what it's worth. It's when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was being praised by many people while the Pharisees refused and told Jesus to rebuke them. Jesus said to them in Luke 19:40, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Again, I know a lot more can be said about this subject. One of the main points out of all this is to show that not only a digital recorder isn't silent about EVP, but the Bible isn't either. I know that EVPs can also be the result of actual supernatural entities such as demons, as I mentioned previously, imitating someone familiar who has lived before (a.k.a. 'familiar spirit'). But what I shared may prove that some EVPs can possibly be more natural, rather than supernatural; normal, rather than paranormal.

Who is the ANTICHRIST?

Well, we've been hearing about this for a long time about who is the Antichrist and where will he come from. In every Presidential election in America, people seem to think one of the candidates will be the Antichrist but they are absolutely wrong and have not read their Bible (or unless there happens to be one who is from the area that I will mention). According to the Bible, he will not come out of America.....but Assyria (which can be a reference to modern day Syria or possibly northern Iraq and stretching to the northern part of Africa). In the book of Isaiah, he refers to destroying an 'Assyrian' when God sets up His kingdom on earth (read Isaiah 10:5, 10:12, and 14:25).

It's interesting about chapter 14 in Isaiah because it first talks about how Lucifer was cast out of heaven in verses 12-17. Then it goes on to talk about the 'Assyrian' in verse 25 which the Antichrist (Satan in flesh just as Jesus was God in flesh described in 1 Timothy 3:16) will be destroyed. It also mentions about the prophecy of Christ destroying an 'Assyrian' in Micah 5:5-6 at His second coming. But it gets even more interesting when we read more information about the Antichrist in Daniel 11:37 and understand that the beginning of Daniel 11 describes history that has already been fulfilled until it reaches the latter part of the chapter. Also note that the term "antichrist" isn't found until the New Testament but it's referring to the same individual.

Daniel 11:37 says 'he will not regard the God of his fathers' which is an Old Testament way of referring to him as being Jewish. Now I understand that needs an explanation and I will give it to you. What this means is that he will have a Jewish origin but come out of the land of Syria. You must understand that the Jews won't except him to begin with unless he is a Jew. By the way, this is not an insult to Jews. This is just pointing out that Satan is a counterfeit and he tries to copy God. In this case, Satan will try to use a Jewish person as the Antichrist just as Jesus Christ was a Jew and Satan is just trying to mimic Him. Also notice in Daniel 11:37 that he will not have 'the desire of women.'

Now you can guess all you want, but it's amazing to think about the rise of homosexuality today. We know from reading 1 John 4:3 that the 'spirit of antichrist' is already in the world before he actually shows up. Could it be that he doesn't desire women because he is homosexual? It's a possibility! I now want to focus on WHO is the Antichrist? Well, I could be wrong but with an open mind and an open Bible, I think Jesus told us who it was when He prayed in John 17:12. He was praying for the disciples (later for all believers in verse 20) but in verse 12 he mentioned about the disciples that 'none of them is lost, but the SON OF PERDITION.'

He was referring to Judas Iscariot as the 'son of perdition' and this is important because the apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 referred to the Antichrist as the 'son of perdition.' So, it's a possibility that the Antichrist could be a resurrected Judas Iscariot and check this out before you think this sounds weird. In Acts 1:25, it says that after Judas died that he 'went to his own place.' Now, fast forward to Revelation 11:7 where it says 'the beast ascendeth out of the bottomless pit.' How did the 'beast' get there to begin with? Maybe when Judas (who is probably the beast a.k.a. 'Antichrist') went to 'his own place.'

Just something to think about and keep in mind that the Bible says we will have many antichrists before the real one appears. This is found in 1 John 2:18 which says, "LITTLE CHILDREN, IT IS THE LAST TIME: AND AS YE HAVE HEARD THAT ANTICHRIST SHALL COME, EVEN NOW ARE THERE MANY ANTICHRISTS; WHEREFORE WE KNOW THAT IT IS THE LAST TIME." We have already seen many 'antichrists' in history and they are just paving the way for the REAL one to show up!

Some thoughts about the Arizona shootings.

There can be so many things to discuss surrounding this tragic event that happened in Arizona this past Saturday. I want to take this opportunity to focus on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her attempted assassin, Jared Loughner. First thing I would like to share, just for basic information, is Giffords's father is the first cousin to Bruce Paltrow (his daughter is actress, Gwyneth Paltrow). Kind of interesting in general. Also, Giffords was raised in a mixed religious background.

Her father being Jewish and her mother a follower of Christian-Science. Giffords identified herself with Judaism since 2001 and is Arizona's first Jewish Congresswoman. With this in mind, I wonder if her attempted killer may have any Anti-Semitic beliefs, such as the Nazis or so forth? This is just a thought for what it's worth but I don't think any of the media is covering all bases. It's all becoming political by the minute from the 'conservative vs. liberal' talk to the questions of the Second Amendment and gun ownership.

Allow me just to give a brief thought of why this guy, Jared Lee Loughner, did something like this. I know the psycho-analysts blame a lack of self-esteem but they are totally wrong as usual. You see, when someone relentlessly shoots at people (including a 9 year old girl) it's not about self-esteem, it's about SELFISHNESS! He has no care in the world about anyone else but himself and responded out of his disappointments of life by taking the lives of others. The Bible teaches us 'esteem' but not SELF-esteem. It teaches OTHER-esteem! As Philippians 2:3 says, "...let each esteem other better than themselves."

But there's another opinion I have of why Loughner went after Giffords which I did my own piecing together and could be entirely wrong which I humbly accept. Loughner could have been infatuated with Congresswoman Giffords, like one of those stalkers who doesn't want anyone else to have her. It has been revealed today that at his home, he had a letter stored in a safe that goes back to Novemeber of 2007 which was from Giffords's campaign inviting him to a similar event that took place this past Saturday. It was also discovered in the safe that Loughner wrote his plans of an attempted assassination mentioning phrases like "I'm planning ahead", "assasination", and the name "Giffords."

I find it sort of strange that November 2007 is the same month and year when Giffords married astronaut Mark Kelly (November 10, 2007 to be exact). Was Loughner obsessed with Giffords and did this act out of a jealous rage? I don't know, but in the meantime let's pray for her and the families of the victims who lost their lives.

Was the Red Sea frozen?

Here's something I thought I would share concerning the crossing of the Red Sea. We read about this miraculous event in Exodus 14. It gives us details of the sea's parting making a passage way for Moses and the children of Israel to escape Egypt and Pharaoh's army. The Bible also says they walked on dry ground and the waters were a wall to them on the right and left (verse 22). Then later in the same chapter, we read about the destruction of Pharaoh and his army as they tried to cross as well.

Of course there are many things to discuss surrounding this powerful act of God's deliverance, but I want to share with you an often overlooked detail. When we look at the next chapter in Exodus 15, we read about the song that Moses and the others were singing how God delivered them. In the lyrics of the song, we find something interesting of how God may have held the water up combined with the 'strong east wind' (14:21).

According to Exodus 15:8, it mentions how the depths were 'congealed.' The word 'congealed' is defined as "to freeze; coagulate---To pass from a fluid to a solid state." So, did God FREEZE the Red Sea to perform this miracle? It appears He may have. But no matter what, God can deliver us anyway He chooses.

November 10th (The day Paradise was lost according to Ussher)

I wrote in an earlier blog on October 7th about a man named, James Ussher. He studied and determined when key moments in Bible history happened such as the Creation of the world, the Flood in the days of Noah, and the call of Abraham just to name a few. I mentioned in my earlier blog titled "This is the Week of Creation (According to Old Historian)" that he documented his dates and his methods of how he determined them in his work titled The Annals of the World back in 1658.

Well, according to Ussher, November 10th (which is today as I'm writing this) is the day when Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden. He calculated that it precisely happened on Monday, November 10, 4004 BC. By the way, today also happens to be Veterans Day. So thank a Veteran for their service to our country and I guess it's ironic since, according to Ussher, this is the day that began all conflicts.

A Poem of the Books of the Bible (interesting)

In Genesis the world was made by God's creative hand
In Exodus the Hebrews march to gain the Promised Land
Leviticus contains the Law, holy, just, and good
Numbers records the tribes enrolled, all the sons of Abraham's blood
Moses in Deuteronomy records God's mighty deeds
Brave Joshua into Canaan's land the host of Israel leads

In Judges their rebellion oft provokes the Lord to smite
But Ruth records the faith of one well pleasing in his sight
In 1st and 2nd Samuel of Jesse's son we read
Ten tribes in 1st and 2nd Kings revolted from his seed
In 1st and 2nd Chronicles we see Judah captive made
But Ezra leads the remnant back by princely Cyrus' aid

The city walls of Zion Nehemiah builds again
While Esther saves her people from the plots of wicked men
In Job we read how faith will live beneath afflictions' rod
And David's Psalms are precious songs to every child of God
The Proverbs, like goodly string of choicest pearls, appear
Ecclesiastes teaches men how vain are all things here

The Song of Solomon exalts sweet Sharon's lovely rose
While Christ the Savior and the King the rapt Isaiah shows
The admonishing Jeremiah apostate Israel warns
His plaintive Lamentations their awful downfall mourns
Ezekiel tells in wondrous words the Kingdom's mysteries
While God's great Kingdom yet to come Daniel in vision sees

Of judgment and of mercy Hosea loves to tell
Joel describes the blessed days when God with man will dwell
Among Tekoa's herdmen Amos received his call
And Obadiah prophesies of Edom's final fall
Jonah enshrines a wondrous type of Christ, our risen Lord
Micah pronounces Judah lost--lost but to be restored

Nahum declares on Nineveh just judgment shall be poured
When Christ our risen Savior shall come to be adored
A view of Chaldees' coming doom Habakkuk's vision gives
While Zephaniah warns the Jews to turn, repent, and live
Haggai wrote to those who saw the Temple built again
Zechariah prophesies of Christ's triumphant reign

Malachi was the last to touch that high prophetic cord
His final notes sublimely show the coming of the Lord
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John the Gospel story give
Describing how the Savior was born and died that man may live
Acts tells how well the apostles preached with signs in every place
And Paul in Romans proves that man is saved through faith by grace

The Apostle in Corinthians instructs, exhorts, reproves
Galatians proves that faith in Christ alone the Father approves
Ephesians and Philippians tell what Christians ought to be
Colossians bids us live for God and from all sin be free
In Thessalonians we are taught the Lord will come from Heaven
In Timothy and Titus a shepherd's rule is given

Philemon marks brother's love as only brethren know
Hebrews reveals Christ's priestly works prefigured long ago
James teaches without holiness, faith is but vain and dead
While Peter points the narrow way in which the saints are led
John in his three epistles on love delights to dwell
But Jude gives warning terrible of those once who fell

The Revelation prophesies that tremendous day
When all the kingdoms of the earth with noise shall pass away
'Even so, come, Lord Jesus.'
